On Tuesday my wife and I, on a whim, decided to go forth and procure ourselves a new HDTV. The primary reason for the TV hunt was due to our current television having some issues with its RCA inputs not working quite right. The display was constantly flickering, the colors were out of whack, and it was at times almost too dark to see.

Of course I’m sure that the fact that only devices plugged into the RCA input were our gaming systems had no impact at all. (Hey, what’s wrong with my actually wanting to see the characters that I’m trying to blow up?)

So far I’m more than pleased with the TV. The quality is amazing and after setting up an indoor HDTV antenna, I was blown away with just how good it looks. I think I’m going to put off upgrading our satellite package to HD for a little while as it doesn’t appear that Dish Network even carries our local channels in HD yet.

BTW: The Xbox looks awesome! I have Xbox Media Center loaded (since my Xbox has been.. modified), and even watching DivX movies looks ten times better on the new TV. Plus Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 has never looked so good. (Yes, I play a golf game, but only on the Xbox and I’ve never played a real round of golf in my life).
