A-ha! After searching around on teh internets for a while I finally hunted down some nVidia Geforce Go 7900 GTX compatible Windows Vista drivers. I downloaded them from LaptopVideo2Go, who essentially take existing nVidia drivers and alter the INF to include laptop GPU hardware identifiers. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that, I used to have to do the same thing to get 3Com drivers to work with Dell branded 3Com cards.
So now I have Vista up and running, and I actually don’t hate it. There are few minor annoyances with the UI but that’s mostly just because of my preference for the more ‘Classic’ interface, but I am going to give the new UI a go. The desktop widgets are kind of interesting, and I can see them being really useful (even if OSX had them first). We’ll see how this goes.
