I finally got around to watching ‘Superman Returns’, and I simply don’t understand how it managed to get good reviews (76% positive at Rottentomatoes).
I’d say <spoiler warning>, but guess what? There’s nothing to spoil. Lex Luther manages to acquire some Kryptonite *gasp*, and attempts to kill Superman. Gee.. where have I heard of that plot before? Hmm, how about every other Superman story that involves Lex Luther? It just wasn’t very original and overall the acting was rather sub-par. With the exception of Kevin Spacey of course, who did the best that he could given his surrounding cast.
So yeah, feel free to watch it, but if you really need that superhero fix I’d strongly recommend going with the original Superman (or even Superman II). At least in those two movies had some kind of chemistry between the actors.
