In a patch a little while back, macros in the World of Warcraft became incredibly powerful. There are too many various functions to name here, so I’ll just mention a couple that I find immensly useful on my warlock: “/castsequence” and “/focus”.

The following macro uses “/focus” and “/clearfocus” to set and clear focus, respectively. It will first clear your focus if your target is dead or no longer exists, then it will set your focus to whichever target you currently have selected. After focus is set it will cast “Banish” targeting the focused mob, and when activated later in the fight it will re-banish the focused mob without having manually select it. This is quite useful because it allows you to continually banish (or Fear, just change the cast to Fear), and not have to constantly change your targeting from the banish mob to the mob you’re trying to DPS down.

This next macro is a little less complex, it is aptly named “cast sequence” and does exactly what you expect. It allows you to cast a series of spells in sequential order. The “reset” argument in there tells the sequence macro to reset your sequence (start back at the first spell) if any of the following conditions are met: entering combat, changing target, or clicking the macro while holding down the shift-key. In my example the sequence of spells is Corruption, Curse of Agony, Siphon Life, Unstable Affliction, and Immolate. You may notice that my choice of sequence is instant cast before duration cast.
